Here at SHP Health, we seek to provide clients with complementarity in the offerings available at The Barn.  Alongside our Physiotherapy services and Studio classes, we also bring together experiences and offerings designed to help support our clients at different points on their journey.

Mindfulness is the human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we are doing. Mindfulness involves paying attention on purpose to our present moment experience with an attitude of openness, curiosity and kindness. With mindfulness, we learn to live more ‘in the moment’ and can make choices in how we respond to our experience rather than being driven by our habitual tendencies, many of which are unhelpful.

Mindfulness at The Barn:

At SHP Health, we understand that Mindfulness has been shown to be a useful tool to help people deal with stress better and feel more positive (Taylor et al 2021, Galante et al 2021).

Throughout the year we bring our clients different options in which to explore Mindfulness and Meditation; from formalised Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses and retreat days with guided meditations, to classes throughout the week which finish with relaxation and mindful awareness.

Classes:

We offer a weekly Tuesday afternoon ‘Golden Hour’. The hour is a free, un-led use of The Studio space that must be pre-booked. Come along and take full advantage of the beautifully peaceful Studio environment, where you can enjoy a gentle movement-based practice session, an hour of meditation, or simply cosy up with a good book; think ‘library’ with opportunity to lie down!

This special hour is part of our My Space initiative, that focuses on creating times in the week/month/year for reflection and reset.
