Ayurvedic Massage

All the benefits of a relaxing and therapeutic massage, alongside tailored use of warm Ayurvedic oil and ‘pressure point’ techniques.

Warm oil is used with specific rhythmic techniques as well as slight pressure techniques to stimulate some of the 107 ‘marma points‘. This restorative experience supports body and mind relaxation. The marma points are key energy juncture points in Ayurvedic tradition.

The types of oils used can include:

  • Warm Ayurvedic therapeutic and herbal oils
  • Aromatic essential oils as well as mild (low scent) oils
  • Oils can be selected for individual constitution and ‘doshic‘ types.

Ayurvedic massage types and duration

  • Shoulder, Head and Face Massage (or Indian Head Massage): 45 minutes
  • Full Body Marma Massage (not including the face): 60 minutes
  • Full Body, Face and Head Marma Massage: 90 minutes

We offer Ayurvedic massage on a Saturday morning.

Sports Massage

Sports massage has been defined as the manual manipulation of muscles and soft tissue with the purpose of improving performance in or recovery from sport. This type of massage is often referred to as “deep tissue massage” and although it has not been shown to affect sports performance directly, there is some evidence to suggest that it can improve tissue flexibility and reduce the feeling of muscle soreness, known as DOMS, after exercise (Davis et al 2020).

Sports massage available for:

  • 45 minutes
  • 60 minutes
  • 90 minutes
